How God Led Me to Visiting Orphans

Hey All! So over the past 10 months I’ve really started to become a blog reader and I LOVE hearing and learning about other people’s life experiences with God.  I had been thinking about starting my own blog for a while now, but just never got around to it.  BUT since I’ll be taking my first mission trip to Africa I thought this would be a great time to start blogging.  My hope for this blog is to share my own life experiences with all of you, along with sharing my upcoming trip to Africa that I truly know will be life changing!  So, for all of you who have helped to support me by either donations, praise or prayers—coming to my blog will be a way for you to hear about my time in Africa! :)
The first post I’d like to share with you has to do with HOW God lead me to Africa.  I look back on how this process happened and God just continues to amaze me.  The story is nothing special, really.  It happened on the night that my sisters and I attended a Britt Nicole and Hawk Nelson concert.  I love—LOVE Britt Nicole so I was super excited about the night and seeing her perform.  However, once we got to the concert I had this “different” feeling come over me.  It’s a little hard to even explain because I’m not even exactly sure how to explain it, but I just had a different feeling.  I kept thinking to myself, “Ok God, what are you up to? What are you going to do?”  For a second I thought maybe I’d be able to meet Britt or something! But, after my sisters and I headed to see Britt’s stand where she had all of her t-shirts and CD’s, I knew exactly what He was up to.  I went to Britt Nicole’s stand and was looking at all of her items when I noticed this yellow—beaded necklace.  Hmmm? I didn’t know exactly what it was so I picked it up and the lady selling the items told me that the necklace cost $25 and if I purchase it 50% of the cost goes towards helping orphans all around the world.  So, as soon as she said that I knew I was going to purchase it.  I’ve ALWAYS been huge on helping children and orphans!  So yes, $25 is sort of spendy for a necklace, but I knew my small purchase would be able to somehow and someway help a child in need.  So as I was holding this yellow necklace in my hand, I noticed this small tag that was tied to it.  It was a picture of Britt Nicole kissing a small child and it read ‘What are you waiting for?’  Then, I flipped it over and on the back it read “Visit Orphans Today!”  With the website to Visiting Orphans!  I just SMILED and knew right there and then WHY I had this “different” feeling come over me.  I held onto that tag and I knew—I JUST knew that I’d be going on a mission trip with Visiting Orphans soon to VISIT and LOVE on ORPHANS! Oh, what a JOYFUL and EXCITING moment that was for me!!  All night long I was just SO excited to go home and look up their website!!

Like I said, I know this story isn’t anything TOO special or exciting, BUT it is how I came across the wonderful non-profit organization of Visiting Orphans and I know my life is going to be forever changed because of them!  Why? Because I’ll finally be living out my DREAM to go to AFRICA and to be the HANDS and FEET of JESUS CHRIST!!  I’ve always talked with my close family and friends about how I have had this PASSION in my HEART to CARE and LOVE all of these children in Africa….And now…I’ll be leaving in 2 WEEKS to make my dream a reality!  I am SO excited and can hardly WAIT to see what God has planned for me and the rest of my team!!  I have no idea what is going to happen but I KNOW that HE DOES and I’m SO excited to FIND OUT!!:)

Have a Fabulous Friday everyone!*
